STD Rupture Disc

Standard Rupture Disc

The STD rupture disc is a solid metal, prebulged differential pressure relief device that provides instantaneous full opening within milliseconds of an overpressure situation. Use it to protect equipment, vessels, and systems from overpressure conditions.

The STD is ideal for static, pulsating, or cyclic operation conditions but requires a vacuum support to withstand vacuum.

The STD’s high-visibility flow direction tag ensures easy installation, correct orientation, and at-a-glance inspection. All STD discs with the (LL) seating for insert holders include an attached flow direction tag. Other LaMOT discs include a detached tag.

Service: Gas, vapor, or liquid

Manufacturing range: See table 2, Manufacturing Ranges

Special and reduced manufacturing ranges are available upon request.

Available in a variety of materials to resist corrosive media and atmospheric conditions.

Specified and MIN/MAX Rating Types are also available.

We manufacture options and accessories to ensure our rupture discs perform in any environment. Consult a representative if you aren’t sure which you need.

Cleaning

This disc is available to be cleaned for oxygen or chlorine service.

Corrosion resistance

We provide corrosion-resistant fluoropolymer disc liners and coatings when necessary. Other protective materials available on request.

Dent protectors

Guard your rupture disc with a dent protector if the outlet dome (vent side) is exposed or at risk of damage.

Gaskets

Get a tight seal, even on scratched or pitted disc holders, by installing a gasket.

Handling supports

Improper handling during installation can affect your disc’s burst pressure setting. Use handling supports when installing thin or delicate rupture discs to prevent damage.

Protective rings

Prevent damage to fragile rupture discs and delicate liners from foreign material in the seating area by adding a protective ring.

Vacuum supports

Protect your rupture disc from vacuum conditions with a vacuum support. Consult your LaMOT rep if you need to protect against back pressure higher than 14.7 psig (1,01 barg).

When ordering a rupture disc that will encounter vacuum conditions, please specify the exact conditions.

We manufacture our vacuum supports to be an integral part of the rupture disc.

Vacuum supports are permanently attached to ensure proper installation.

The LaMOT Brand Standard Rupture Disc is available in a 30° angular “Light-Lip” seat and a 30° angular “Heavy-Lip” seat. Size and rupture disc holder bolting class determine the seat design. Refer to Table 1 for information on application of Heavy-Lip seating. Seating not indicated in Table 1 as Heavy-Lip, will be Light-Lip.
